TULSA - A Wrench-winning goal deserves a little extra love.

Joaquín Rivas' long-range tally to give FC Tulsa the lead and eventually the win over OKC Energy FC in the regular season finale at ONEOK Field was voted by the fans as the USL Championship's Goal of the Week on Thursday afternoon.

The honor provides a fitting bookend to Rivas' 2021 season as the Salvadoran also won the league's first Goal of the Week award this year following his looping goal in the season opener, also against Energy FC.

It's also the second consecutive season that FC Tulsa's Wrench-winning goal over OKC was voted as the league's Goal of the Week. In 2020, it was Toby Uzo's diving header in stoppage time to beat OKC that earned the honor and eventually went on to win the league's 2020 Goal of the Year.

Rivas and FC Tulsa are in final preparations for their playoff opener against Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday night. The team held its final training session prior to the match in Tulsa on Thursday morning and will fly out of Tulsa early Friday. Kickoff for the playoff match is at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and will be broadcast locally on My41 in Tulsa and on ESPN+ nationally.
