At a glance...
Playoff History For the fourth time in club history, SAFC is preparing to host a home playoff match at Toyota Field this Friday. This season marks the third playoff season in team history, and the first time the club has made the postseason in back-to-back years. The club hosted one playoff match last season and two matches in 2017 at Toyota Field. San Antonio won its first-ever playoff game in October of 2017, defeating the then Tulsa Roughnecks in the Western Conference Quarterfinals. In the Semifinals, SAFC hosted OKC Energy FC and after a 1-1 score following extra time, OKC advanced in penalty kicks. Last season, SAFC fell 0-1 to New Mexico United after 120 minutes of soccer in their lone playoff match.
A Strong Campaign SAFC just wrapped up a regular season that saw them record a 14-8-10 record overall and a second-place finish in the Mountain Division. The record is the second best in team history behind the 17-4-11 record the team recorded in 2017. SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina has now compiled a 24-11-13 record in regular season play since taking over prior to the 2020 season. SAFC recorded the same amount of wins on the road as home this year (seven), and the club improved its overall home record to 48-13-28 since the start of the 2016 season.
