Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release

MCALLEN, Texas, Sept. 10, 2015 - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers today announced the 2015-16 season schedule. This year's schedule features a total of 50 games, including 24 home games at State Farm Arena, 24 games on the road and two games at the NBA D-League Showcase Jan. 6-10. The complete 2015-16 schedule can be found below.

RGV will open the season with five games at State Farm Arena during the month of November. Opening weekend will feature back-to-back games versus the Idaho Stampede Nov. 13 and 14. Southwest division rival Oklahoma City visits the RGV Nov. 19. The Vipers' first road trip of the season is Nov. 23 at Delaware. Then, RGV returns home for a pair of games versus Los Angeles Nov. 27 and 28.

This season's home schedule will also feature themed games honoring the local community. On Dec. 17, the Vipers will host an 11 a.m. Kid's Day Game versus Austin. The annual Kid's Day Game rewards students through the team's Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll programs. The Vipers will also host the Sixth Annual All-Valley Showcase the afternoon of April 2. Top RGV high school boys and girls will compete east against the west prior to the Vipers final regular-season home game versus Los Angeles.

"The Vipers are excited to announce the schedule for our ninth season in the Rio Grande Valley. Each season, this team becomes more invested in the RGV. This year we look forward to practicing in our new, state-of-the art practice facility in Edinburg. Next season, we look forward to the grand opening of our new home at Bert Ogden Arena," Vipers president Bert Garcia said. "We value the communities that support us and once again look forward to providing family entertainment to the RGV."

Former RGV Vipers assistant coach Matt Brase (2012-13) returns to the RGV to take the reigns as the team's head coach. Brase spent the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons as the Director of Player Development for the Houston Rockets. Previously, Brase helped lead the Vipers to the team's second NBA Development League Championship during the 2012-13 campaign. The championship squad compiled a franchise-best 35-15 record and won its final 10 regular-season games before sweeping the playoffs 6-0. The winning streak continued into the 2013-14 season where the Vipers set a league record 19-game win streak. Including the 2013 playoffs, the Vipers won 25 straight games.

"I am excited for the NBA Development League schedule to be released. It is always an exciting time of year, as basketball is right around the corner. The D-League continues to do a great job of developing players, coaches, trainers, strength coaches and support staff. Our two organizations, the Rockets and Vipers, are extremely excited for the upcoming season," RGV Vipers head coach Matt Brase said. "Having previously spent the 2012-13 season in the RGV and winning a D-League championship, I am excited to get back to work in the Valley. It is a great community and we are looking forward seeing our fans at State Farm Arena in November."

Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Vipers at 956-972-1144.
