
Riley Hospital for Children Night at Bosse Field on Saturday

Evansville, IN- The Evansville Otters are proud to announce their game on Saturday, July 18th, against the Joliet Slammers, will be Riley Hospital for Children Night presented by the Riley Children's Foundation.
Riley Hospital for Children Night will feature children from Evansville and the surrounding areas who have received care from Riley. The children will be an integral part of the Otters presentation of the ballgame, taking part in several areas including player announcements, first pitch and the National Anthem.
The Koch Foundation purchased tickets for current and prior Riley families to receive a free ticket to the game. Riley Families can receive free tickets by visiting any Old National Bank in Evansville or by visiting the Will Call Table the night of the game (the Will Call Table is located right outside the Front Gate- ticket availability is limited). It is also Star Wars night at Historic Bosse Field, and characters will be at the ballpark to take photos with fans, pass out free items to Riley children, and help raise money for Riley.
The First Pitch ceremony for the game will be at 6:15 pm CDT and will be thrown by 11-year-old Riley Champion and Evansville resident LaDavion "Dee" Jones. Since the age of six, Dee has had multiple surgeries at Riley Hospital for Children due to being born with flat feet and severe ankle issues. Dee wears custom-made braces and plays travel baseball, as well as basketball. He has aspirations of becoming an orthopedic surgeon, "I want to help kids who have the same problems as me," Dee says. As a 2015 Riley Champion, Dee serves as an ambassador for Riley and shares his story.
Another member of the Riley Kid Community, Alli Wilsbacher, will be singing the National Anthem before the start of the game.
Volunteers from the University of Southern Indiana Dance Marathon (USIDM) will be in attendance to promote their organization and the fundraising they provide to Riley Hospital. Students will also be singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the 7th Inning Stretch.
The Mission of Riley Children's Foundation is to secure the health and well-being of children everywhere. In accordance with that mission, this event will generate awareness about the impact Riley Hospital for Children has in Evansville and surrounding areas. The game action will feature the right-handed All-Star Trevor Walch for the Otters. Walch is 6-3 on the season with a 1.58 ERA and just pitched a perfect inning in the All-Star Game on Wednesday. In his last official start, he shutdown the Lake Erie Crushers over seven innings while scattering seven hits and striking out three against just a lone walk. His opponent on the mound for the Star Wars themed night will be left-handed pitcher Michael Carden (2-2 and a 5.17 ERA) who got rocked his last time out. In 4.1 innings pitched in his last outing before the All-Star break, Carden was unable to get out of the fifth inning, surrendering eight runs (all earned) on nine hits while lacking control, walking four batters and striking out just two.
The Otters will look to maintain their position atop the East Division in the East/West matchup. The game's first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm CDT with the pregame show featuring Mike Radomski, Bill McKeon and Jake Donnelly scheduled to begin at 6:15 pm CDT.
