Riders Unveil Biggest Promotional Schedule in Baseball History
FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have unveiled the BIGGEST promotional schedule in baseball history, complete with historic bobbleheads, exciting theme nights, celebrity appearances and much more!
The RoughRiders are celebrating the franchise's 15th Anniversary Season with 35 theme nights, 25 giveaways, 21 fireworks shows and seven previously-announced celebrity guest appearances over the course of 70 games at Dr Pepper Ballpark beginning Opening Night, Thursday, April 5. The 15th Anniversary will be commemorated throughout the season, and during a special 15th Anniversary Celebration Weekend from Aug. 3-5, featuring former RoughRiders players returning to Frisco, the announcement of the all-time Riders team, special video tributes and more.
A Mt. SLUGmore Bobblehead that pays homage to all-time franchise favorites Adrian Gonzalez, Ian Kinsler, Chris Davis and Joey Gallo is just part of the amazing 15th Anniversary Celebration Weekend. Mt. SLUGmore will be handed out to the first 1,500 fans through the Dr Pepper Ballpark gates on Saturday, Aug. 4. The Celebration Weekend also includes two additional giveaways - a Riders Dream Team T-shirt (first 1,500) on Friday, Aug. 3 and a Riders Dream Team Card Set (first 2,000) on Sunday, Aug. 5.
The bobblehead brigade is also highlighted by a former Riders great, as the first 1,500 fans receive an Elvis Andrus "The King" Bobblehead on Saturday, July 14. Another favorite for RoughRiders fans will be the Jose Trevino Double Golden Glove Bobblehead (first 1,500 fans) on Friday, Aug. 31, honoring the 2017 Riders' backstop and recent addition to the Texas Rangers 40-man roster.
Bobblehead giveaways are never complete without two commemorating the Riders' "Ambassador of Fun" Michael Gruber, aka Grubes, aka @tweetgrubes. The Grubes "King of the Throne" Bobblehead drops on Thursday, July 12 for a special 250 fans (details to come). A second Grubes' bobble, a "Jumped the Shark" version, will be released on a future date to be announced.
The season opens with a bang Opening Night, Thursday, April 5, as the first 1,500 fans receive a Riders 2018 Season T-shirt, and it doesn't stop there. Riders 2018 Magnet Schedules and Schedule Posters follow on Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8, respectively (first 2,000). Additional giveaway highlights include "Los Jinetes" T-shirts (May 5, first 1,500), Military T-shirts (May 19, first 1,500), Get Fit Night pedometers (June 15, first 1,500) and get an early jump on Father's Day with RoughRiders Socks for Dads (June 16, first 1,500 men 18+). And don't go Back to School without picking up your free Riders Backpack on Aug. 18 for the first 1,000 kids 12 and under, courtesy of Bluewood.
The Riders are wearing seven specially-themed jerseys over nine games in 2018. The players get in on the action for Players Night, Saturday, July 14, as they get to choose nicknames to go on their jerseys in lieu of last names. Cinco de Mayo jerseys were a hit last year, and this year's design will be a scorched-red "Los Jinetes" edition on Saturday, May 5. Other theme jerseys include Military (Saturday, May 15), Strike Out Cancer (June 1-3), First Responders Night & Community Night (Saturday, June 30) and Dude Perfect (Friday, July 20) and State Fair (Saturday, Aug. 25).
A sampling of the other special theme nights include Jurassic Park Night (Friday, April 20), Game of Thrones Night (Friday, July 13), Star Wars Night (Saturday, Aug. 5) and State Fair Night (Saturday, Aug. 25).
