Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager/Vice President of Football Operations Eric Tillman announced today they have signed import defensive linemen Jermaine Haley and John Chick to one-year plus an option contracts. Terms of the contracts were not released.

Haley 6'3-300, has been with the NFL's Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins since 2000. In 62 career NFL games, Haley had 56 defensive tackles, 3.5 quarterback sacks, and one interception. Haley began his pro football career in 1993 when he attended the B.C. camp as a junior. He later attended Butte Junior College where he was an All-American. H was reunited with Tillman in 1998 with the Toronto Argonauts where he was named the team's Most Outstanding Rookie. After two seasons with the Argonauts, Haley was drafted in the seventh round by the Miami Dolphins and made his move to the NFL.

Chick 6'3-250, attended training camp with the Houston Texans last season, but was released at the final cut. The 24-year old was a four-year starter at defensive end at Utah State and in 2002 became the first USU freshman to start a season opener in nine years. Chick finished his Aggie career with 163 tackles, with 39 for loss, including 23.5 sacks. He was also named to the first-team all-Western Athletic Conference in 2005.

"Jermaine can be a dominant player in this league again," stated Riders GM/VP of Football Operations Eric Tillman. "He is a physical force because he plays hard every snap. John is a coach's dream. He has great character, a relentless motor and runs really well for a big man. John and Jermaine will make an area of strength (our defensive line) very competitive at training camp."
