Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders selected forward Cason Hohman with the second overall choice in today's United States Hockey League Futures Draft.

"The RoughRiders' organization is thrilled with the selection of Cason Hohman," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "He's a very good person from a very good family and he is a special and very exciting hockey player. Selecting Cason is our first step in the process of putting together the 2009-10 RoughRiders."

Hohman, 16, last season led the Tier I Elite Hockey League in points (56) and assists (32) and ranked second in the league in goals (24) while playing 31 games for the Detroit-area Compuware Under-16 midget team.

The Riders used the first of their five futures draft choices on Hohman, who is a native of Plymouth, Michigan. The futures draft continues throughout the afternoon.

Today's draftees will be added to the RoughRiders' affiliate list. Only players born in 1993 are eligible for selection in the Futures Draft. The 2009 USHL Entry Draft is slated for tomorrow.

The RoughRiders are fresh off a successful tenth anniversary season. The Riders, who finished with the second most points (81) and wins in one season in team history, went 38-17-5 and finished second overall in the USHL.
