Riders Roll Past Chicago

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Nick Oddo scored twice as the host RoughRiders defeated the Chicago Steel 6-1 Friday night.

The Riders broke open what was a one-goal game at the end of one period by scoring three times in the second period. The Riders extended their lead to 3-1 just 1:25 into the second period when Eric Robinson's shot caromed in off of Robin Bergman.

Oddo stretched the gap to 4-1 by burying a rebound at 8:22 of the second.

The Riders were up 5-on-3 Jared Rickord swept a loose puck home from the crease to make it 5-1 at the 12:35 mark of the second.

At 5:43 of the third period Oddo capped off the win by scoring his second of the night and the Riders' fourth unanswered off a Bergman centering pass.

The Riders had made a statement by scoring the game's first two goals in a span of just two minutes and 33 seconds. Kyle Flanagan's backhander opened the scoring at 11:55 of the first period. At 14:28 Matt Donovan provided a power play goal with a blast from the blue line.

Matt Linblad scored what proved to be the Steel's only goal from the side of the net at 17:51 of the first.
