Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TX- Trailing by two runs for most of the ballgame, the RoughRiders scored three runs in the eighth against Arkansas relief pitching to win Sunday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark 4-3. Jared Prince scored the go-ahead run, after Guilder Rodriguez grounded a ball off the glove of Travs pitcher Andrew Taylor with the bases loaded.

Despite traveling the night before, Arkansas would lead for most of the afternoon. Matt Long opened up the game with a single off "˜Riders starter Tim Murphy (0-1). Darwin Perez doubled giving Arkansas a 1-0 lead, before Long added to it two innings later with a solo home run.

The "˜Riders wouldn't answer until the fourth. Facing Arkansas starter Greg Smith (1-0), Brad Hawpe hit an opposite field shot to cut the deficit to two.

Leaving after four innings, Murphy would be relieved by Ryan Rodebaugh and Corey Young (1-0). The two would combine to toss four scoreless frames, bringing the "˜Riders to bat in the bottom of the eighth.

Facing Travs reliever Daniel Tillman (0-1), Jurickson Profar homered to open up the inning. Brad Hawpe walked, then advanced to second when Jared Prince was hit by a pitch. That ended the day for Tillman, who was replaced by Andrew Taylor.

To give Frisco a little more speed on the bases, "˜Riders manager Steve Buechele replaced Hawpe with Alex Buchholz at second base. He'd score on a base hit by Engel Beltre to tie the game at three.

Leury Garcia moved the go-ahead run 90 feet from home on an infield single, setting up Guilder Rodriguez with the bases loaded. Taking the count to 1-2, Rodriguez hit a comebacker off Taylor's glove and out of the reach of Travs second baseman Renny Osuna. Jared Prince scored, giving the "˜Riders the lead and the victory.
