Riders Outduel Indiana 4-3 in Shootout

Indianapolis, Indiana- Pat Cannone scored two goals and added one assist and Kent Patterson made 35 saves in regulation and overtime and then stopped four Indiana Ice penalty shots as the RoughRiders defeated the Ice 4-3 in a shootout Saturday night.

Jacob Cepis and Robin Bergman converted penalty shots to give the Riders a 2-0 win in the shootout.

The Riders were closing in on a regulation win until Eric Kattelus scored a power play goal to tie the game at three with just 1:38 left in the third period.

The Riders took the lead deep into the third after rebounding from an early 2-0 deficit with three straigt goals.

Cannone cut the gap to 2-1 with a drive from the high slot at 12:09 of the first period.

The Riders were shorthanded when Cannone struck again at 10:14 of the second period. The first year forward snapped the puck past Indiana goaltender Alex Kangas (31 saves) from the right wing circle to even the score at two.

At 15:43 of the second, Mike Seidel's power play goal gave the Riders the lead. Seidel buried the rebound after Kangas stopped Cannone's drive.

The Ice got the early jump on the Riders with first period goals from Garret Roe and Brett Peterson.
