
Riders Hang with Midland Early Before 'Hounds Run Away with 10-3 Win

The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, had their two-game winning streak snapped in a 10-3 loss to the Midland RockHounds Saturday night at Dr Pepper Balllpark.
After falling behind early, Frisco (62-74 overall, 24-43 second half) stayed within reach of the RockHounds. The Riders scored a run in the third on an RBI single from Luis Marte and another in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Alexeis Bell, cutting Midland's lead to 5-2 after four innings.
However, Midland (76-61, 43-24) took off from there. Riders starter Reed Garrett (3-8) allowed at least one run in each of the next four frames, exiting in the middle of Midland's five-run fifth inning. He allowed a career-high-tying nine runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Richie Martin tied a career-high with five RBI, going 2-for-5 in his second game at the Double-A level.
Meanwhile, Midland starter Ben Bracewell (8-3) kept the Riders quiet most of the night, tying a career-high by logging six innings of work. In that span, he allowed two runs on five hits to earn the win.
Joe Jackson extended his hitting streak to a season-long 10 games Saturday, going 1-for-4. Andy Ibanez went 2-for-4, collecting his 21st multi-hit game of the season.
The Riders and RockHounds play a doubleheader Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark, with game one starting at 4:30 p.m. Ariel Jurado (1-3, 2.84 ERA) is scheduled to start game one for the Riders, with Frank Lopez (5-6, 5.48 ERA) lined up for game two. Midland plans to counter with righties James Naile (0-1, 5.25 ERA) and Andres Avila (6-3, 3.62 ERA). On Sunday, the Riders welcome Madison Kocian of the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic women's gymnastics team to Dr Pepper Ballpark. It's also Pitch Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark, including a free viewing of the new FOX television show Pitch on the field after the game after a post-game fireworks show. Additionally, it's the final Kids Sunday Funday of the year at Dr Pepper Ballpark, featuring pre-game catch on the field and $1 ice cream sandwiches throughout the night.
