POR 6 vs STJ 0

The IceCaps were thumped 6-0 by the Portland Pirates in a penalty- filled affair at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine. The Pirates scored four powerplay goals, a shorthander and an even strength marker. Six different Portland skaters found the back of the net - Henrik Samuelsson, Justin Hodgeman, Lucas Lessio, Tyler Gaudet, Alexandre Bolduc and Dylan Reese.

Despite a three-goal surge in the latter stages of the opening period, the IceCaps fell 6-4 to the Pirates Friday at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine. Jason Jaffray had two goals and an assist and Kyle MacKinnon had three assists but the IceCaps couldn't contain the high-powered Portland offence. Alex Bolduc had a pair of goals and Patrick McNeill tallied three assists.

WOR 3 vs STJ 2

The IceCaps suffered a 3-2 overtime loss at the hands of the Worcester Sharks Saturday at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.

Chase Balisy and Blair Riley scored for St. John's, while Evan Trupp, John McCarthy and Matt Taormina - with the game winner at 2:38 of extra time - found the back of the net for Worcester.

MOLSON CUP THREE STARS

New Faces: Last week the Jets re-assigned forward Axel Blomqvist to St. John's, while the IceCaps signed forward Jimmy Lodge to an amateur tryout contract. Blomqvist, 20, split this season between the Victoria Royals and Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL. Lodge, 20, notched 63 points (28G, 35A) in 58 games with the Saginaw Spirit and Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL.
