
Lightning Recall Defenseman Witkowski, Forward Marchessault from Syracuse

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Luke Witkowski and forward Jonathan Marchessault from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Witkowski, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, has played in 10 games with the Lightning this season, averaging 14:44 in ice time with an even rating. He made his NHL debut with Tampa Bay on January 20 against the Vancouver Canucks. Witkowski played a season-high 18:52 in ice time February 15 at the San Jose Sharks.
A native of Holland, Michigan, Witkowski has appeared in 47 games with the Crunch this season, posting two goals and eight points to go along with 91 penalty minutes. The defenseman has skated in 126 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past three seasons, recording four goals and 20 points.
Witkowski was drafted by the Lightning in the sixth round, 160th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Marchessault, 5-8, 184 pounds, has played in 60 games with Syracuse this season, leading the Crunch with 36 assists and 57 points. He ranks second on the team for goals with 21, while his six power-play goals are tied for second. The 24 year-old has played in 287 career AHL games with Syracuse, the Springfield Falcons and the Connecticut Whale, recording 89 goals and 244 points.
A native of Cap-Rouge, Quebec, Marchessault has played in three career NHL games with the Lightning and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He made his Lightning debut, his only appearance with Tampa Bay this season, on October 25 at the Minnesota Wild, logging 12:33 in ice time.
Marchessault was acquired by Tampa Bay on March 5, 2014, along with Dalton Smith, from Columbus in exchange for Dana Tyrell and Matt Taormina.
