
Richmond Splits Doubleheader

Buffalo, NY - The Richmond Braves started the season on a good note, scoring three runs in the seventh inning to defeat the defending Governors' Cup champion, Buffalo Bisons by a score of 5-4 in game one of a double-header. The R-Braves settled for a split as Buffalo took game two by a score of 5-4.
In the first game, Kyle Davies pitched five strong innings allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out five. James Jurries and Andy Marte came through in the clutch hitting homers in the final inning lifting the Braves to victory.
In game two, Marte continued to swing a hot bat, hitting his second homer of the day for Richmond. Veteran Sam McConnell took the mound for the Braves yielding four runs on four hits over three innings of work. Buffalo's Andy Abad come to bat in the bottom of the eighth and ended the game with a pinch-hit single off of reliever Hector Almonte.
The two teams square-off again today in Dunn Tire Park at 2:05 p.m.
