CHARLESTON, SC - Johnny Richardson, who leads the clean-up crew for Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, has been nominated for the "Dickies American Worker of the Year Contest."

Nominated by the Charleston RiverDogs, the fourth-year Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees, Richardson has been the "main man" cleaning up at The Joe since he was hired on July 9, 2000.

A commercial and residential demolitionist during the day, Richardson oversees the clean-up crew at Riley Park, a 6,000-seat facility that opened in April 1997 and is owned by the City of Charleston.

Always seen wearing a pair of Dickies pants, Richardson is vying for one of the 11 weekly winners, six regional finalists and one grand prize winner.

"Johnny is one of the hardest workers I've seen, day-in-and-day-out," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "He never misses day of work. He oversees a dedicated staff that works early into the mornings after night games, and rarely do we hear a complaint about the cleanliness of the ball park, which isn't an easy task."
