
Richard, Bulls blast past Bisons

Durham, NC - Chris Richard drove in five runs, including the go-ahead three-run home run in fourth inning, as the Bulls cruised to a 12-5 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Saturday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The game was tied at five entering the bottom of the fourth inning when Richard homered to left field to give the Bulls an 8-5 edge. The Bulls added an insurance run in the fifth inning with an RBI-groundout from Jason Pridie, and Elliot Johnson padded the lead in the eighth inning with another three-run home run to give the Bulls a 12-5 lead.
Ryan Mulhern hit an RBI-double to give the Bisons a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bulls scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI-double from Justin Ruggiano, a two-RBI double from Richard, and a two-run home run from Jeremy Owens. The Bisons were able to tie the game with an unearned run in the third inning and a solo home run from Brad Snyder and an RBI-single from Luis Rivas in the fourth inning, but the bullpen trio of RHPs Steve Andrade, Juan Salas, and Scott Dohmann held them scoreless for the rest of the game.
RHP Jeff Niemann (10-5) worked five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out eight. RHP Adam Miller started for the Bisons, but lasted just 2 2/3 innings, surrendering five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four. LHP Eric Dubose (2-2) pitched the remaining 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out seven.
