Portland Lumberjax News Release

PORTLAND, May 10, 2007 - After nine long months (and nine extra days), Portland LumberJax defenseman Richard Morgan and wife Heather are the proud parents of newborn Presley Elizabeth. The baby was born on Tuesday, April 24 at 7:15 p.m. in St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Ore. Taking after her 6-foot-6 father, Presley was born 21.5 inches long and weighed 9 lbs. The Morgans are settling down and adjusting to the new parenting lifestyle, and they provided some insight on how the newest addition to the Jax lineup came into the world.

Jax PR: How is the new baby doing?

Heather: Presley is doing very well. She is healthy.....most importantly and very beautiful.

Jax PR: What was the hardest part about the pregnancy?

Heather: I actually had a very good pregnancy. There is not too much I can complain about. I was very lucky in the sense that I never had any complications. I would do it all over again in a heart beat (Mind you, we will be waiting a while before our next baby).

Jax PR: What was going through your mind before you went into labor?

Heather: I was a bit scared but very excited and anxious at the same time. We were just ready for her to be in our arms. Knowing that Rich was going to be there by my side the whole time eased my mind. It was a long waiting game for us, considering she was nine days late. She was well worth the wait though. Rich provided great support during labor; I couldn't have asked for more.

Jax PR: What was it like when you saw Presley for the first time?

Heather: I was speechless. It was a very emotional experience, one that words can not describe.

Rich: The emotions were high, because it was a very intense experience. My mind was very still, and all my energy was focused on her.

Jax PR: Do you think she looks more like her mom or her dad?

Heather: I am not too sure. She has dark hair like me, but I think she has Rich's eyes. She has a long stature like Rich too. I think in a few months we will have more of an idea of who she looks like.

Jax PR: What is the hardest thing about being new parents?

Heather: The hardest thing is that I get no sleep. I have to learn to sleep or rest when Presley does, otherwise I will get no sleep. I wake up every three to four hours to feed her and she eats like her dad. Both Rich and I are learning as we go. We have had a lot of help and support from our family and friends which has been huge.

Rich: The transition has been amazing. Every time I am in her presence she leaves me speechless and shows me what life is all about. Honestly it hasn't been that hard, because we have a lot of help from family and friends. She is like a lotus flower.

Jax PR: How has Rich been handling everything?

Heather: Rich has been an amazing father from the day we found out I was pregnant. I had no doubt that he would be very hands on, which helps me out a lot. We are both learning as we go. Every free moment he has is spent holding her and looking into her eyes. He also enjoys taking naps with her in his arms. I couldn't ask for a better man to be Presley's father. We keep telling each other how amazing and perfect she is.

Jax PR: What has been the best part so far?

Rich: Her presence, because every time you are in the room with her, you are mindful of her and what she is doing.

Heather: Presley is so perfect. I love spending every moment with her. It is so amazing to think that Rich and I actually created her; the feeling is indescribable. From the moment she was born, I felt the connection between us. It is still hard to believe that she is really ours, because we waited just over nine months for her and now the waiting game is over.
