
John Grant wins Dodge Nitro Most Valuable Player Award for 2007 National Lacrosse League season

The naming of the 2007 National Lacrosse League season award winners concludes today with the Dodge Nitro Most Valuable Player Award. The award this year goes to John Grant of the Rochester Knighthawks, a first-time winner of the league MVP award.
John Grant was the league's most prolific scorer in 2007, leading the NLL in both goals scored (51) and total points (111). His 60 assists also ranked second in the league this season, tied with Arizona's Dan Dawson. Grant anchored the Knighthawks powerful offense, which scored a league best 249 goals in 2007. The veteran forward scored 14 of his goals on the power play, helping the league's best power play unit which converted on nearly 60% of their chances. On the penalty killing unit, Grant scored five short-handed goals (tied for the league lead with Bill McGlone of Chicago and Jeff Moleski of Calgary). Rochester finished second with a 62.5% penalty kill percentage this season. Grant also collected 81 loose balls in 2007.
Grant helped lead the Knighthawks to the league's best 14-2 record. The team went a perfect 8-0 at home and 6-2 on the road. Both were league bests.
The award winners are chosen by a vote of the leagues coaches, general managers, and executives.
The MVP is the final award announcement leading up to the 2007 National Lacrosse League Championship presented by Edge Active Care on Saturday, May 12th. The game will be played at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona at 4PM Eastern/1PM Pacific. The Rochester Knighthawks and the Arizona Sting will meet in the championship game. The game will be broadcast live on VERSUS in the US. In Canada, Sportsnet will air the game in all regions in a same-day tape delay broadcast at 7PM Eastern/4PM Pacific. A live pay-per-view webcast is available at nll.com via B2 networks. The game will also air live on SIRIUS satellite radio on channel 110. Coverage on SIRIUS begins at 3PM Eastern.
