Dakota Wizards News Release

BISMARCK, N.D., July 24, 2008 - The Central Division Champion Dakota Wizards of the NBA Development League announced today that a familiar face will once again be on the bench. Former Wizards standout player and coach Kevin Rice has been named assistant coach under head coach Duane Ticknor.

"Were excited to have Kevin back on the bench", said Ticknor. "He's a proven winner. His experience as a player and a coach in addition to his overall knowledge of the game make him a tremendous asset to the Wizards family".

Following a successful career as a Wizards player, Rice returned to the team as a coach and helped Dakota to the 2006-07 NBA D-League championship. During the 2007-08 season, Rice returned to the hardwood as a player for the Minot Skyrockets of the Continental Basketball Association, where he was named to the CBA All Star team.

"It's great to be back home," said Rice. "I am looking forward to getting back into the coaching side of the game. I'm honored to be a part of the Wizards family and looking forward to helping bring back another championship to the Civic Center."

Rice won two championships as a player with the Wizards, one in the IBA in 2000-2001, the other in the CBA in 2002-2003. A former Utah State University standout Rice has a long list of achievements, mostly in the defensive column, winning the CBA Defensive player of the year in 2002-2003 as well as Defensive player of the year in the Turkish Pro League in 2004.

The Wizards enter their 14th season in Bismarck, winning eight division titles in the past nine seasons with four of those turning into championships. Season tickets start at $99 dollars for the 2008-09 season which tips off Thanksgiving weekend.
