
Rhodes Transitions to Coaching Staff

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums are proud to announce that Jake Rhodes, former catcher with the team, has been named First Base Coach, effective immediately.
Rhodes, who entered his third season with the Bums, will start manning the first base coach's box tonight against the Joliet Slammers. He finishes his Traverse City playing career with a .230 average, hitting six home runs, 13 doubles, and 44 RBI. In an unrelated move, pitching coach, Ricky VanAsselberg has tendered his resignation.
Jake played a key role for in the Beach Bums' championship run last season, catching all six games as the Beach Bums swept both Normal and River City. Prior to coming to Traverse City, he played two seasons at Division-I Murray State University, where he hit .265 with 21 doubles, eight home runs and 66 RBI in 111 games for the Racers.
Don't forget: Tomorrow is Family FUNday Sunday, as the Beach Bums host the Joliet Slammers at 5:05pm. After the game, kids are invited to run the bases and will get the opportunity to meet and get autographs from the 2016 Traverse City Beach Bums
The Beach Bums business offices are open from 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Sponsorships, season tickets, group packages, patio tables, and suite, are all currently available for the 2016 season. The Box Office & Gift Ship are now open with non-gameday hours of 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm on Saturday. Wuerfel Park is closed on non-gameday Sundays. Stadium hours are extended on gamedays.
