
Rhinos Announce Assistant Coaches & Youth Technical Director

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Rhinos are pleases to announce the addition of Georgois Kryiazis and Gavin McInerny to the clubs coaching staff. In addition to being the Rhinos Assistant, Coach Kryiazis is the Rochester Junior Rhinos Technical Director overseeing the development of the youth program & academy.
Kyriazis played two seasons with the Rhinos and 17 seasons professionally prior to retiring after the 2013 season. Georgios began his professional career at the age 16 when he signed his first professional contract with the Greek Superleague team Iraklis 1908. Over the course of the next eight years, Georgios helped to anchor the defense in 134 matches and notched nine goals. In 2003, Georgios signed with Arezzo of the Italian Serie B league. He appeared 28 times for Arezzo over the years before making a move to Triestina, also of the Seria B League in Italy. While there, Kyriazis notched seven goals in the 93 matches in which he helped to defend the backline. In 2012, Georgios joined the Rhinos and lead the defense for two seasons.
Following his retirement, Kyriazis has made Rochester his home and has been involved with training and grooming youth soccer players in the area prior to being named Rochester Junior Rhinos Technical Director. His professional soccer background including his experience overseas along with his vast soccer knowledge will be a tremendous asset to the club.
"I'm excited to be back with the pro team and have the chance to work next to a great teacher of the game in coach Bob, a lot of young and talented guys and some veterans with good experience," said Georgios Kryiazis. "The 2015 season will definitely be an interesting season with a lot of new teams and quality players. Competition will be high and our team has shown some very good quality in the first week that leads me to believe we have a good chance for success this year", said Kyriazis.
Joining the Rhinos as Goalkeeper coach is Gavin McInerney. Gavin was born in Dublin, Ireland and played collegiate soccer at the University of Memphis. Professionally he played for the Bray Wanderers, St. Patrick's Athletic FC and Dublin City FC of the League of Ireland Premier Division. McInerney was also the Director of Goalkeeping for the St. Kevin's Boys Football Club in his native Dublin.
His coaching resume includes two seasons as Men's Assistant Coach at the University of Buffalo where he trained current New England Revolution (MLS) standout Bobby Shuttleworth and three seasons as Men's Assistant Coach at Monroe Community College where he developed three NJCAA All-Americans as well as two NJCAA Regional Players of the Year winners. In addition to being a Rhinos Assistant Coach, Gavin is responsible for the International Soccer Training Program at Monroe Community College.
"I'm excited to join Bob (Lilley) and George (Kyriazis) on the coaching staff for the upcoming season. I am confident that the 2015 season can be a successful one for us if we all continue to work hard and stay focused each day," McInerney said.
The Rhinos open their 20th season on Saturday, March 28th against the New York Red Bulls II at Red Bull Stadium. The Rhinos home opener is Sunday, April 26th against the New York Red Bulls II at Sahlen's Stadium at 2:05pm.
