RGV WhiteWings Lose
June 7, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release
The bats of the Grande Valley WhiteWings were mostly silent Thursday night as the Edinburg Roadrunners gained a bit of revenge, taking a 4-0 decision at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings garnered four hits, but went without one from the first inning, a single by Legum Barroso, until the fifth, when Rudy Yan also hit a single.
The Roadrunners, meanwhile scored three runs in the third frame. It began with a walk by WhiteWings pitcher Luis Chirinos, an error, a passed ball, then climaxed by a triple by designated hitter Tony Phillips.
The Roadrunners added run in the fifth. Stantrel Smith hit a single to centerfield, and made it home on a double by Wilmer Pena.
The Roadrunners only collected six hits, but they came at the right time.
The WhiteWings loss to the Roadies put them at five wins and two losses during the two clubs 2012 encounters.
The two clubs close out their four-game series at Harlingen Field Friday, at Fly Away Friday, when some lucky person will win two tickets by Southwest Airlines to anywhere it flies.
The WhiteWings on Saturday move over to Edinburg Stadium for two games with the McAllen Thunder, then return to Harlingen for two more games with the Thunder Monday and Tuesday.
