Goss Leads Thunder to Late Win

Edinburg, Texas - Designated hitter Mike Goss drove in the game-tying and winning runs to lead the McAllen Thunder to victory over the Abilene Prairie Dogs on Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium by score of 5-4.

The Prairie Dogs (5-9) got on the board courtesy of Wilson Batista triple and a throwing allowed him to score the game's opening run in the seventh inning.

The Thunder (4-11) responded with two runs in the eighth inning with a Roberto Rodriguez single, after a couple of outs Goss would respond with an RBI single that tied the game at one. Then Antoin Gray would drive in Goss for the second run of the inning, which made it 2-1 in favor of the Thunder.

Abilene would respond with three runs in the top of the ninth courtesy of an Eddie Browne 2-run single that gave the Prairie Dogs a two-run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

The Thunder would counter with three runs of their own lead by the game winner of Mike Goss's RBI single to end of the game.

Chad Robinson was the winner and improved his record to 2-0 in the season, while Prairie Dog reliever Todd Weldon took the loss and falls to 0-2.

The Thunder will play the final game their four game series at home versus the Abilene Prairie Dogs at Edinburg Baseball Stadium on Friday night. Abilene will send right-hander Billy Petrick (0-0) taking on Thunder right-hander Baron Short (0-1) with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
