EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers edged the Iowa Wolves, 123-115 on Saturday night in NBA G League action at Bert Ogden Arena.
Iowa (8-19) erased a 10-point Rio Grande Valley (15-12) lead at the start of the fourth quarter with a 10-0 scoring run. The run started and ended with three-pointers by Craig Randall II, who scored a team-high 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Randall II also had eight assists.
RGV countered and eventually took the lead back and held it as the Wolves couldn't get baskets and defensive stops at the necessary times.
Darius Days and Trhae Mitchell each posted double-doubles for RGV with 32 points and 14 rebounds and 26 points and 16 rebounds, respectively.
As a team, RGV knocked down 16 three-pointers and held Iowa to just 11. The Vipers pulled down 28 offensive rebounds that led to 27 second-chance points.
Matt Lewis scored 21 points for Iowa while Luka Garza had a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
Tonight's game ended a season-long seven-game road trip for Iowa, which returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Monday, March 13 to host the Birmingham Squadron. Tipoff against the Squadron is 7 p.m. CT.
