York Revolution News Release

(Central Islip, NY) - The York Revolution were held to just three hits, suffering a 3-1 loss to the Long Island Ducks on Tuesday night in front of 6,515 fans at Bethpage Ballpark. The first-place Revs (37-28) now lead Sugar Land by 2.5 games and Lancaster by 3.5 games with five remaining in the first half, as York's magic number remains four. The Revs will play two more at Long Island before returning home to host Lancaster on Friday night.

York jumped ahead 1-0 in the first as Joel Guzman tagged a two-out double to right-center and Michael Burgess followed with an RBI double to deep left. The Revs managed just one hit and one walk the rest of the night, however, as Ducks pitching faced the minimum from that point forward.

Long Island took the lead in the bottom of the second. Dan Lyons extended the inning with a two-out infield hit before Ruben Gotay was hit by a pitch. Mike Blanke and Mike Dowd then followed with RBI singles, giving the Ducks a 2-1 lead.

The Ducks plated an insurance run in the eighth. Lyons (4-for-4) again kept the inning alive with a single to right, and after moving to third on a base hit by Gotay, scored on a wild pitch from reliever Julio DePaula to give the Ducks their final margin. All three Long Island runs scored with two outs, while nine of the Ducks' 10 hits came after there were two outs in an inning.

Long Island lefty Darin Downs (5-4) earned the win, limiting York to one run on three hits in seven innings. He struck out 10 batters and did not issue a walk, throwing an even 100 pitches. Amalio Diaz tossed a perfect eighth and Todd Coffey rebounded from a loss the night before with a scoreless ninth despite a leadoff walk, notching his 11th save.

Revs starter James Simmons (4-3) picked up his team-best seventh quality start in 12 outings, but absorbed the loss, charged with two runs on seven hits in six innings.

Notes: York's three hits tied a season-low for the fourth time and first time since June 2 at Bridgeport. The Revs fall to 3-3 on the current road trip with two games remaining, having alternated wins and losses. York is now 6-2 against Long Island this season. Guzman collected two of York's three hits and is now 5-for-8 in the series at Long Island, while batting .406 (13-for-32) over his last seven games. York righty Tony Pena (5-2, 3.96) makes the start on Wednesday, opposite Long Island right-hander Bruce Kern (1-1, 1.88) at 6:35 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
