(Gastonia, NC): The York Revolution were in the midst of a five-run rally in the top of the third inning against the Gastonia Honey Hunters when lightning forced a delay, ultimately resulting in a rainout on Saturday night at CaroMont Health Park.
The Revs and Honey Hunters will now play a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games on Sunday afternoon beginning at 2:15 p.m.
None of Saturday's stats will be carried over, washing away what was turning out to be a big offensive performance for the Revs.
After Gastonia starter John Anderson set down his first six batters, Yefri Perez started the third with an infield single and Josue Herrera walked. With one out, Perez stole third and JC Encarnacion drilled a two-run triple to deep center. With the infield in, Elmer Reyes sprayed an RBI single into right. Melky Mesa laced a double to the left-center alley, setting up Telvin Nash who delivered a two-run single to right-center. Nellie Rodriguez drew a walk before play was halted during Troy Stokes Jr.'s at-bat.
Revs starter Eduardo Rivera had retired all six batters faced including a pair of strike outs before the game was called.
Revs fans can catch Sunday's doubleheader live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and the WOYK YouTube channel beginning at 2 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
