
Revs open training camp on Wednesday ahead of 2008 season

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - On Wednesday, Jan. 30, the New England Revolution will open its seven-week training camp ahead of the start of the 2008 season. The team will gather for a team meeting and entrance physicals on Tuesday, before hitting the turf at ForeKicks Sports Complex in Norfolk on Wednesday for early-season conditioning work.
Most of the team is expected for Wednesday's session, excluding Adam Cristman (U.S. Under-23 Team), Michael Parkhurst and Taylor Twellman (U.S. Men's National Team Camp) and Abdoulie Mansally and Sainey Nyassi (awaiting visa clearance).

Twellman & Parkhurst Return to U.S National Team Camp
Michael Parkhurst and Taylor Twellman were among the 21 players U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley recalled to camp to begin preparations for the team's rivalry match against Mexico on Feb. 6 ... the National Team camp began last Friday at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. ... all 21 players on the Carson roster were part of the group that began training in early January and finished with a 2-0 win against Sweden on Jan. 19 in Carson ... Twellman is the second-leading cap-winner in the camp with 30, while Parkhurst earned his third cap in the team's recent victory over Sweden ... the U.S. will host archrival Mexico on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. ESPN2 and Univision will televise the game live, beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
Cristman to Under-23s for Training Camp
Adam Cristman was one of 23 players called to the U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team's second training camp of 2008, head coach Peter Nowak announced last Thursday ... the camp will run until Saturday, Feb. 2 in at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. ... the week-long camp will be Nowak's final chance to train and evaluate players before selecting the team that will compete in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament from March 11-23, 2008, in Los Angeles, Tampa and Nashville ... Cristman has made four appearances (two caps) with the U23s.
Revs Select Four in 2008 Supplemental Draft
The Revolution selected four players in the 2008 MLS Supplemental, which was conducted via teleconference last Thursday, Jan. 24 ... the Revs selected forward Kheli Dube out of Coastal Carolina, midfielder Chris Tierney from Virginia, midfielder Kyle Altman from Trinity (Texas) and forward Saidi Isaac from Winthrop in the draft ... Tierney, a Wellesley, Mass., product who played his prep soccer at Noble & Greenough in Dedham, had participated in the team's invitation-only tryout on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
Franchino Re-Signs with Revs
On Thursday, Jan. 24, the Revs announced that veteran Joe Franchino re-signed with Major League Soccer to play for the Revolution ... Franchino, 31, is a 10-year MLS veteran and is entering his eighth full season in New England having joined the club midway through the 2000 season from Los Angeles ... Franchino has played in 210 career MLS games, including 161 with the Revolution, and has scored five goals and added 23 assists ... he has played left back, left midfield and central midfield in his career.
Revs Preparing for Bermuda Training Trip
On Wednesday, Feb., 13 - just two weeks after the start of preseason training - the Revs will travel to Bermuda for its first international training trip of 2008 ... the trip will be the team's fourth to Bermuda in as many seasons, having gone each preseason since 2005 ... the team's competition and training schedule for the trip is still being finalized and will be released prior to the team's departure.
Fox Soccer Channel to Televise Season Opener
When the Revs host the Houston Dynamo in an MLS First Kick match on Saturday, March 29, Fox Soccer Channel will be the exclusive national television outlet for the game ... the game is a rematch of MLS Cup 2007, in which the Dynamo earned a 2-1 victory over the Revs to repeat as MLS champions ... the match on March 29 marks the first time that the Revolution has hosted a season-opening match in the club's now 13-year history.
Noonan Transfers to Norway
The Revs announced on Thursday, Jan. 24, that forward Pat Noonan, 27, had completed a free transfer to Aelesund FK of the Norwegian First Division ... he played five seasons for the Revs after being drafted in the first round (ninth overall) by the team in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft ... Noonan appeared in 119 games in New England - starting 110 - and scored 37 goals and added 29 assists while helping the team reach three consecutive MLS Cup championship matches ... he left the club ranked third in both career goals and career assists ... Noonan will reunite with former Revs goalkeeper Adin Bown at Aalesund FK.

From Boston: Take Rt. 128 or Rt. 95 to Rt. 1 south in Norwood. Follow Rt. 1 south into Foxboro (DO NOT take Pine St. exit in Walpole!). Go PAST Gillette Stadium and take a right at next traffic light (Pine St. exit, Lafayette House restaurant and Seasonal Specialty Store on right). Follow exit road to end and make a right onto Pine St (Rt. 115). Go less than 2 miles and Fore Kicks will be on your left hand side.
From Rt. 495 Northbound: Take Rt. 495 North to Rt. 1 north into Foxboro and follow to Pine St. exit traffic light (Seasonal Specialty Store Plaza on left). Make a left and follow exit road to end and make a right onto Pine St (Rt. 115). Go less than 2 miles and Fore Kicks will be on your left hand side.
From Rt. 495 Southbound: Take Rt. 495 South to Rt. 1A (Wrentham Outlets exit). Turn left onto Rt. 1A (South St.) and follow (turns into Dedham St.) Rt. 1A thru Wrentham center. Stay on Rt. 1A (Dedham St.) and follow across Rt. 140. Go 1.5 miles to next traffic light, make a right onto Rt. 115 (Pine St.). Fore Kicks will be 100 yards down on your right hand side.
