Revs Drop Seesaw Battle as Ducks Even Series

(Central Islip, NY): The York Revolution were denied of a third consecutive victory, dropping a seesaw battle to the Long Island Ducks, 7-4 on Saturday night at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. It sets up a rubber match on Sunday evening when the Revs close out their six-game road trip.
York scored first for a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as JC Encarnacion drove a one-out triple to deep center and scored when Josue Herrera ripped an RBI single down the first base line, extending his hitting streak to seven consecutive games in the process.
Long Island drew even in the bottom of the third as Joe DeCarlo led off the inning with a double to left, moved to third on a ground out, and scored on a sac fly to center by Austin Rei, tying the game at 1-1.
The Ducks went ahead an inning later. Vladimir Frias reached on a leadoff walk, and Alejandro De Aza launched a two-run homer to right-center, spotting Long Island a 3-1 lead.
The lead was short-lived as the Revs came storming back in the fifth. Lenin Rodriguez led things off with a double to deep right-center, his third in as many nights. With one out, Elmer Reyes doubled to the same spot, plating Rodriguez to make it 3-2. Two batters later, Nellie Rodriguez slammed an opposite field two-run homer to right-center, his 10th of the year, putting the Revs on top, 4-3.
Revs starter Alex Sanabia fired a shutdown 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the fifth but ran into trouble in the sixth. Frias led off the inning with a single to left and De Aza doubled to right-center to put two in scoring position with no outs. A wild pitch brought home Frias with the tying run, and Deibinson Romero connected on a sac fly to left, giving Long Island a 5-4 lead.
The Ducks added two insurance runs in the seventh, scoring on a double down the left field line by Rei and a Frias RBI single to right.
Long Island effectively pieced together its bullpen effort without allowing a hit until the Revs put together one last threat in the ninth. Chad Hockin (2-1) earned the win handling a scoreless sixth. Sandy Baez retired all four batters and Tyler Webb set down all three he faced as the Revs were down to their final two outs. Yefri Perez (seven-game hitting streak) greeted Nick Goody with a pop up single down the left field line, while Lenin Rodriguez and Troy Stokes Jr. followed with walks to load the bases. Goody came back to strike out the final two batters, however, notching his fifth save.
York righty Nick Travieso (2-4) will face Long Island lefty Stephen Tarpley (3-3) in Sunday's finale at 6:35 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and the WOYK YouTube channel beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
Notes: Carlos Franco walked in the fifth inning, extending his on-base streak to 44 consecutive games, one shy of a Revs franchise record set by Nate Espy in 2007. It is now 20 games longer than the next longest streak in the Atlantic League this season.
