
Revs begin final week of local indoor training before departing for Austin, Texas

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution will continue preseason preparations this week by conducting its final week of local indoor training before traveling to Austin, Texas, on Monday, Feb. 23, for the club's first preseason training trip of 2009. This week, the club will train Monday through Friday at the Dana-Farber Field House on the grounds of Gillette Stadium, with double sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

TRAINING HEATS UP AS DOUBLE SESSIONS CONTINUE
While the first week of the Revolution's preseason training camp focused solely on fitness and conditioning exercises, week two began double sessions and provided a chance for the players to begin working with a ball at their feet ... while the morning sessions continue to focus primarily on conditioning, the afternoon sessions typically feature passing drills and small-sided scrimmages, allowing the veterans to regain their sharpness and giving the rookies a chance to impress the coaching staff ahead of the club's first preseason training trip to Austin, Texas.
JUST ONE WEEK REMAINING BEFORE REVS' FIRST PRESEASON TRAINING TRIP
With the club now into its third week of preseason training, just one week remains before the Revolution departs for Austin, Texas, for its first training trip of the 2009 preseason ... the Revs will travel to Austin on Monday, Feb. 23, and train in Texas on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ... the club will then conclude its stay in Austin with its first match of the 2009 preseason at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 28, when New England will face its host for the week, USL-1 side Austin Aztex FC, at Nelson Stadium.
REVS FINALIZE 2009 HOME SCHEDULE
The Revolution has finalized its 2009 home schedule, confirming the times and dates for its two July matches at Gillette Stadium ... originally listed as a TBA kickoff, the Saturday, July 11 match against the Kansas City Wizards is now scheduled for a 4 p.m. start ... the match against Chivas USA will be played at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, after the contest was originally listed as TBA on either July 18 or 19 ... TV38 is scheduled to televise both contests.
DISAPPOINTMENT FOR GAMBIANS AS GABON FRIENDLY CANCELLED
Revolution teammates and Gambia natives Kenny Mansally and Sainey Nyassi were left disappointed last week when their country's scheduled friendly against Gabon was cancelled because of inclement weather just hours before the match was set to kick off ... the pair of 20-year-olds traveled to Paris, France for the game, only to return to New England having never set foot on the field ... Mansally was aiming for his fourth international cap after appearing in three World Cup Qualifiers for Gambia, while Nyassi was searching for his first appearance with the senior national team.
REVOLUTION LAUNCHES $200 SUPPORTER'S SEASON TICKET
The Revolution has announced a new initiative to offer its most ardent and vocal supporters a special $200 season ticket ... the Supporter's Season Ticket, which will include standing-room seats in "The Fort," gives the club's hard-core supporters the chance to attend the entire 20-game home schedule (regular-season and special event games) and be located with like-minded fans in one area of the stadium - the north end of Gillette Stadium, under the lighthouse ... the $200 Supporter's Season Ticket is part of a larger initiative to engage the team's adult fan base, as the club has also launched its "Defend the Fort" campaign, which has kicked off on the team's official web site, revolutionsoccer.net, and will soon include a Revolution social network for members and non-members alike, as well as downtown supporters' events at popular social establishments.
REVOLUTION TO HOST INAUGURAL "REV GIRLS" INTERVIEWS ON SATURDAY, FEB. 21
The Revolution will hold interviews for the Rev Girls, the club's new promotional squad, at 10 a.m. in the East Fidelity Investments Clubhouse at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 21 ... the team's newest marketing initiative, the Rev Girls will run promotions at games and nighttime events and make public appearances on behalf of the team ... women interested in interviewing for a roster spot with the 2009 Rev Girls must be at least 21 years old and must bring positive identification with them.
REVOLUTION YOUTH TEAMS BEGIN DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY SCHEDULE
The New England Revolution Under-18 and Under-16 teams each began their inaugural seasons in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy with a pair of road games this past weekend ... the teams traveled to New York for matches against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Baltimore for games against the Baltimore Bays on Sunday, Feb. 15 ... the U18s went 0-1-1, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Red Bulls and earning a 1-1 draw with the Bays ... the U16s went 0-2-0, falling by a score a 3-2 in each of their matches.
U16 FORWARD DEVOY JOINS U.S. U15 TEAM
The Revolution Under-16 team was without one of its top players when it opened its Academy schedule this past weekend, as forward Devin Devoy (North Attleboro, Mass.) joined a group of 36 players selected by U.S. Under-15 Boy's National Team head coach Jim Barlow for an eight-day training camp at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. ... Devoy, currently a freshman at Bishop Feehan High School, will take part in the camp from Feb. 15 to Feb. 22 ... all 36 players in the camp were born in 1994 and are therefore eligible for the both the 2009 and 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cups, but only four players - including Devoy - currently play for MLS youth teams.
PRESEASON TRAINING TO TAKE REVS TO AUSTIN, TEXAS, AND NORTH CAROLINA
The Revolution will travel to Austin, Texas, and North Carolina for outdoor training trips in late February and early March as the team prepares for the opening of the 2009 Major League Soccer season on March 21. The full schedule is as follows:

REVOLUTION ANNOUNCES 2009 SCHEDULE
The Revolution's 2009 regular-season schedule - a 30-game slate that begins March 21 and ends on Oct. 25 - was announced in late January ... the schedule features 15 home matches at Gillette Stadium and includes a three-week break from MLS action so that the Revs can defend their SuperLiga title beginning in mid-June ... following road trips to San Jose and MLS Cup runner-up New York to open the season, the Revolution kicks off the 2009 home schedule against FC Dallas on Saturday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. ... ESPN2 will televise New England's road match at rival D.C. United on Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m., before the club returns home on Sunday, May 3, to host the Houston Dynamo at 3 p.m. ... the LA Galaxy will come to Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 8, in a nationally televised match on Fox Soccer Channel, while the Revs will close their 2009 regular-season home schedule against bitter rival, the Chicago Fire, on Saturday, Oct. 17 ... eight of New England's matches will be nationally televised on one of MLS' three broadcast partners - ESPN2/ABC, Fox Soccer Channel/Fox Soccer en Español and Telefutura - while TV38 (WSBK-TV) will carry 24 matches.
