Revolution's Igwe and Valentino to Travel to England

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution's Amaechi Igwe and Rob Valentino, members of Major League Soccer's Generation adidas program, will journey to England, Dec. 6-14, for a training trip that will include matches against reserve teams of some of the world's top clubs. The participants will also attend several games, including a UEFA Champions League and English Premier League matches.

The Generation adidas team, which is comprised of some of the top young players in MLS, will arrive in London on Saturday, Dec. 6, and will immediately get its first taste of the British game by visiting the Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal battle Wigan Athletic that afternoon. The group is also scheduled to attend two Chelsea home matches at Stamford Bridge - a UEFA Champions League contest against Romanian club CRF Cluj Napoca on Wednesday, Dec. 10, and a league clash with West Ham United on Saturday, Dec. 13.

The 16-man squad, which will be coached by San Jose's Frank Yallop, will play three matches against English Premier League reserve teams and will train at Chelsea Academy three times during the eight-day journey. Igwe, Valentino and the rest of the Generation adidas players will open with a match against West Ham's reserves on Monday, Dec. 8. Two days later on Wednesday, Dec. 10, the team will battle Chelsea's reserve side, while the third and final match will take place on Thursday, Dec. 11, against Aston Villa's reserves.

In addition to experiencing the highest level of soccer in the world, the squad will also experience some of the sights and sounds of England by taking a private tour of the London Eye, going on a bus tour of the city and shopping at the famous Harrod's department store.

Seven of Major League Soccer's 15 teams will be represented on the trip, with FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake leading the way with four players each.
