New England Revolution News Release
The New England Revolution will face the Houston Dynamo in MLS Cup 2006 on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. The 3:30 p.m. ET championship match will be televised live on ABC, while WRKO 680 AM (English) and WESX 1230 AM (Spanish) will carry the game on the radio.
MLS Cup 2006 marks the Revs' third trip to MLS' title match in the last five seasons, having also played in MLS Cup 2002 and MLS Cup 2005. After playing MLS Cup 2005, the Revs have become just the third team in MLS history to play in back-to-back championship matches.
The Revolution has faced the Dynamo, a first-year expansion club, twice this season, both times playing to a 1-1 draw. On May 27, the Revs' Steve Ralston gave New England a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute, but Houston's Ryan Cochrane netted the equalizer in the 85th minute to earn the draw at Gillette Stadium. On July 22 in Houston, the Revs benefited from an own goal to go ahead 1-0 in the 60th minute, but three minutes later, Houston's Stuart Holden scored the game-tying goal as the teams played to another 1-1 draw.
