New Britain Bees News Release

(New Britain, CT) - The York Revolution (6-2, 40-37) defeated the New Britain Bees (2-5, 37-39) 17-5 at New Britain Stadium on Friday night in the opener of a three-game weekend series between inter-division foes.

New Britain starting pitcher Jed Bradley (3-5) was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven runs (two earned runs) on eight hits (one home run) in four innings pitched, walking two while striking out five and hitting a batter. York starting pitcher Duke von Schamann (4-3) earned the win, allowing five runs (three earned runs) on eight hits across eight innings of work, walking two, striking out three and hitting one man.

York took an immediate 1-0 lead just two batters into the matchup when Justin Trapped cracked a solo home run to the opposite field in right for his second roundtripper of the season. The visitors made it 2-0 in their favor four batters later when Welington Dotel drove in Isaias Tejeda with a run-scoring base knock. New Britain cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the first thanks to a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jared James that plated Bijan Rademacher after he singled with one man down. The Revolution later scored nine unanswered runs to open up a 12-2 advantage, hitting two more dingers in the process, both coming in the fifth inning as Dotel launched a solo blast and later in the frame James Skelton belted a three-run shot versus his former ballclub. The Bees got to within 12-5 in the home half of the fifth, with the big blow produced by Jonathan Galvez as he doubled into the gap in right centerfield allowing both Rademacher and Jason Rogers to cross the plate, with Rogers tallying a two-base hit of his own right before the Galvez at bat for his second hit of the evening as he extends his on-base streak to 19 consecutive games overall, matching a team-high also set by Alejandro De Aza earlier in the season from May 10th to May 30th. The boys from the Hardware City would get no closer as York scored the final five runs of the contest, hitting two more homers in the process, the first a solo shot from Ryan Dent in the sixth, and the latter a two-run bomb by Telvin Nash, his Atlantic League leading 26th of the campaign as New Britain gave up a single-game season high in home runs (five) and runs allowed (17). Rademacher, Rogers, Galvez, and Darren Ford had two hits apiece in the losing effort.

The Bees continue their series with the York Revolution at New Britain Stadium on Saturday, July 20th. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. It will be another Coors Light Saturday Night in the Hardware City, as five dollar Coors Light drafts will be available at any concession stand ALL NIGHT LONG, and the first 500 fans in attendane will receive a commemorative team photo of the 2019 Bees, courtesy of Image Ink!
