Revolution II Set to Face Toronto FC II at BMO Field
May 13, 2022 - MLS NEXT Pro (MLS NEXT Pro)
New England Revolution II News Release
TORONTO - New England Revolution II (3-1-2; 12 pts.) will travel to face Toronto FC II for their first of three meetings this season this Saturday, May 14. The MLS NEXT Pro match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET and will stream on MLSNEXTPro.com.
New England fell 4-0 vs. Columbus Crew 2 last weekend, which marked the team's first loss of the season after recording points in each of its first five matches. First-team goalkeeper Djordje Petrović made four saves in his club debut while Brazilian forward Marcos Dias made his first professional start with Revolution II, logging 62 minutes.
"Yeah, certainly the guys [Michel, Ryan Lima, and Ítalo] who have been here for a little bit, he's probably the guy who benefits the most in terms of settling in a little quicker," Head Coach Clint Peay said of how Dias is settling in. "On the field, he's got talent. He's still getting used to playing not only with our guys, but the pace of our league, so I think as he grows more and more, he'll get accustomed more to what it's like to play here and he'll feel more comfortable, but we certainly feel he'll contribute over the stretch of the season and be impactful."
New England and Toronto have previously met four times when both teams were part of USL League One in 2021. New England holds a 2-2-0 record vs. Toronto with each game ending with a final score of 1-0. In MLS NEXT Pro, New England currently sits tied for second place in the Eastern Conference, while Toronto sits in sixth place with a 3-3-0 record on the year.
"Really just having a look at ourselves, what we can improve in following last week's game," midfielder Trevor Zwetsloot said of the team's focus at training this week. "I think that we sort of saw the game as a learning opportunity and we're going to sort of take what we learned into this next game and hopefully come out with three points."
