New England Revolution II News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II (10-10-4, 34 pts.) closes its 2021 home schedule on Tuesday night, hosting Forward Madison FC (6-6-11, 29 pts.) for the second time this month. The match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Revolution II saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Friday afternoon, falling 1-0 at Toronto FC II in the first of two Canadian trips this month. Toronto's Kevin Politz tallied the lone goal of the contest midway through the first half. It was the first time New England had been shut out since July 4, snapping a string of 12 consecutive matches with a goal. Goalkeeper Joe Rice kept New England in the contest, recording three saves to keep his goals against average under 1.00 for the season (0.88).
Revolution II sits in fifth place in the USL League One standings following last week's results. In a tight race for the postseason, which will feature the league's top-six teams, just six points separate third through eighth place in the table. New England will play three of its remaining four contests on the road, including back-to-back games at playoff contenders Greenville Triumph SC (Oct. 16) and North Texas SC (Oct. 23).
New England host Forward Madison on Friday, Oct. 1, claiming a 1-0 victory behind Edward Kizza's fifth goal of the season. Kizza has scored in each of his last four appearances for Revolution II, tied for second-most consecutive games with a goal in USL League One history. New England currently has a 2-1 edge in the season series with Madison, with the two sides having split the contests in Wisconsin back in June.
Forward Madison is in the midst of a five-game road trip, with the third match of that stretch on Tuesday in Foxborough. Madison is winless over its last four games and hasn't scored over its last 249 minutes. The Flamingos are coming off a second straight 1-0 defeat last Wednesday night, falling at the Richmond Kickers. Emiliano Terzaghi's eighth-minute strike for the Kickers was enough to separate the teams on the night, as Richmond held Madison without a shot on target.
