Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay
On going down to 10 men in the first half
Peay: "Basically the biggest adjustment was trying to figure out what would make the most sense. We felt like we had some success keeping a back three together so we decided to stick with that for the second half. And we just wanted to make sure we were aware of their counter attacks where they would switch the point of attack quickly."
On Isaac Angking's performance:
Peay: "I thought Isaac had a good 55 minutes, did some good things on the ball and helped us move the ball quickly. When it came to the second half, we decided we needed some fresh legs, so unfortunately Isaac was a guy who had to come out because of that to get more of a natural winger in his position."
On Damian Rivera's performance:
Peay: "[Damian] showed glimpses of being very dangerous and was able to provide some good play in the first half. He was able to either draw some fouls in and around the box or create some moments where we were able to play the final ball. But again, once we went down to 10 men and in the second half he actually took a knock, he began to tire and he's a guy who hasn't really logged 90 minutes with the first team yet so he isn't quite there especially being 10 men down to play a full 90."
On preparing to face North Texas SC next Saturday
Peay: "I thought the guys played well. Even with 10 men, I thought we still created chances. The effort was great. So, we're disappointed the game unfolded as it did but I wouldn't look at it as licking the wounds, I would just chalk it up as a moment of growth or learning to recognize going down a man to two unnecessary yellow cards is always going to be difficult for a team to remain to competitive. But I actually thought the group did a good job of staying competitive and dictating the tempo of the game in the second half. We pushed a little harder than maybe you would if it was a senior team game but I think it showed that the guys still had enough left in the tank and maybe some ideas to move the ball against a decent Orlando group."
Revolution II Defender Ryan Spaulding
On defensive adjustments late in the first half
Spaulding: "Obviously it's tough when you go down a man that early. We changed to a three-back system. We knew that everyone was going to have to work a little harder. Honestly, we just tried to continue to work with each other, talk to each other. We ended up not being able to press as much just because there was more space for them either out wide or in the middle so we just tried to stay compact and shift with the ball."
On difficulties defending Orlando's speed down the wings
Spaulding: "I thought we handled it pretty well early in the game when we had all our guys. It's tough though when we were playing three in the back and they had [Moises Tablante] playing high and wide pretty much the entire game. So you always had to be aware of that."
On generating chances offensively
Spaulding: "We create chances for our guys. We want to score, we create opportunities, we need to get the ball in the back of the net. I think it's better that we're creating these opportunities rather than not having them at all. But we definitely need to get our confidence back in front of goal and start burying these chances and get on the front foot in these games."
