FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Orlando City B (1-1-0, 3 points) earned a 2-0 shutout victory over New England Revolution II (0-1-1, 1 point) on Friday night at Gillette Stadium. The win marked the first for the Lions in 2020 and the first at the helm for Head Coach Marcelo Neveleff.
Wilfredo Rivera opened the scoring for Orlando City B in the 66th minute, getting his head on the end of a cross from Moises Tablante at the back post for the Lions' first finish of the 2020 season.
Tablante would then go on to earn his second assist of the evening in second half stoppage time, sending a ball across the face of goal that found Kenji Tanaka on the far side to seal the victory for OCB in the 91st minute.
The Revolution were reduced to 10 men early in the match after defender Ryo Shimazaki received his second yellow card in the 38th minute.
Neveleff made four changes to his starting XI from the Lions' season opener, one of which included the Orlando City B debut of 15-year-old defender Thomas Williams, a product of the Orlando City Development Academy.
Following up his efforts that earned Save of the Week honors against Tormenta, Orlando City B goalkeeper Austin Aviza earned his first shutout as a Lion, registering two saves on the night, including a stop off his knee to deny Isaac Angking in the 53rd minute to keep the match scoreless.
