New England Revolution II News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II (9-9-4, 31 pts.) defeated first-place Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (10-3-10, 40 pts.) on Saturday night in Tennessee, 1-0. Revolution Homegrown Player Justin Rennicks scored the lone goal of the contest in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time, his second consecutive match with a goal, to provide the latest winning goal in Revolution II's history.
Chattanooga was reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute when Sebastian Capozucchi was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. The host Red Wolves still found themselves with a late corner in second half stoppage time. After Revolution II cleared the initial cross, Justin Rennicks took the ball from the edge of the New England penalty area all the way down field, eluding two Chattanooga defenders before slotting a shot past Sebastian Mora-Mora for the win.
Goalkeeper Joe Rice recorded his sixth clean sheet of the season, making five saves on the night. Rice was solid in the first half, parrying away four shots in the opening 45 minutes. Revolution II center backs Collin Verfurth and Pierre Cayet were also instrumental, each recording 10 clearances in the contest.
Revolution Academy midfielder Esmir Bajraktarevic started for the third consecutive game, making his sixth straight appearance since joining the club in August. Six other Academy graduates featured for Revs II, with Damian Rivera, Justin Rennicks, Colby Quiñones, and Noel Buck all starting, and Meny Silva and Hikaru Fujiwara coming off the bench.
New England returns home on Friday, Oct. 1, hosting Forward Madison FC for the first time this season. Friday's kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

POSTGAME QUOTES:
New England Revolution II 1 vs. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC 0
New England Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay
On the defensive resolve the group showed:
Peay: "I thought the guys, they battled. Everything wasn't perfect, some of our assignments were off, but at the end of the day, they just stepped up and made plays defensively. And that's all you can ask for each and every game."
On losing Ryan Spaulding and Jake Rozhansky to injury and the team stepping up in their absence:
Peay: "Yeah, I don't know, we'll have to go back and see kind of how they feel. Just little things hopefully, although we'll have to check. In terms of missing those two guys, certainly they're key guys for us, but I felt that the guys, we talked about it before the game, the guys who came off the bench had to have a positive impact and I thought they did. I thought they were influential in different ways and helped us find the result tonight."
On Esmir Bajraktarevic starting for a third straight game:
Peay: "He's a young talent so we want to give him some opportunities. He's shown that he can be dangerous going forward so we believe that if we can get him on the field and give him the minutes that his development will go quickly that way."
On Justin Rennicks getting rewarded with the winning goal:
Peay: "I think it's terrific for Justin [Rennicks]. He's worked hard. He's been unlucky in some scenarios during the season, and he does put in a lot of tireless work. So very, very pleased and happy for him tonight and it was a big play."
On what has changes mentality-wise over the past few weeks:
Peay: "We're making plays, there's a little bit more sense of urgency about us. The guys know that they're close, and I think they've been digging a little deeper and we're pumped up from last two games."
New England Revolution II Forward Justin Rennicks
On what he's learned about himself as a player this season:
Rennicks: "Yeah, I mean, obviously playing as a winger was a change for me, especially midway during the season when I started playing there. It was a challenge. And you know nothing's wrong with a challenge, but when it's almost altering your play, it's hard. But being back at the nine is great. That's my current position, obviously, and that's the position I always like to play."
On how rewarding is to get a late winner:
Rennicks: "Yeah, it's something everybody dreams of doing -- scoring that last-minute goal in the last few seconds and the whistle blows after. I was just in the right place at the right time, made the run, and scored the goal, can't say much more about it."
On the team's complete defensive effort:
Rennicks: "The play wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the team. There was 100 percent effort from every player on the field, every sub that was put in, every player gave their all and that's what gave us the win."
On the team's confidence:
Rennicks: "It's huge. [Chattanooga] were first place. And we go into every game with the same mentality of giving 100 percent and never give up, because obviously things happen, late-minute goals happen, and you just keep playing."
