POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 2 vs Orlando City B 1
New England Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay
On his assessment of the game overall:
Peay: "I thought the guys played fantastic. Defensively I thought they were sound. A couple hiccups, but overall, very pleased. They worked very hard. They were committed to the game plan, and I thought they created a ton of chances and probably unfortunate not to score a few more."
On Noel Buck's first goal of the season and his season overall:
Peay: "Yeah, I think it's his best performance of the season. The goal was sort of the pinnacle of that performance. Kind of what we saw from him last year a little bit. Good defensively, winning balls in the midfield, clean breaking out of midfield and counterattack, so I was pleased to see that he did very well and was able to get his first goal."
On Esmir Bajraktarevic's performance:
Peay: "I thought he worked incredibly hard, doing the things we wanted him to do defensively and created some wonderful opportunities for himself and he certainly wants to do better. I know he does but getting in those moments is half the battle and so we just keep working and it will come from him."
On Mike DeShields performance tonight:
Peay: "Mike [DeShields], just a warrior. He's obviously a guy who hasn't played as much this year. In his opportunities, I thought he's done well and again tonight, he was a rock back there defensively, so I can't say enough about how he kind of stepped it up and performed when he was called."
Homegrown Midfielder Noel Buck
On scoring his first goal of the season:
Buck: "We sort of had the ball around the left side, and we've been working on this in training. It's like someone comes up, they come with them, and then the space behind them is open, and so I recognized it. I went in behind. Michel played a great ball, and it's really funny because the center back just didn't come to the ball for some reason. He was there. He could have gotten there, but he didn't, and he just left me a lot of space. And of course, I'm going to finish that, so it works out."
On his development as a player after 30 starts with Revs II:
Buck: "I'd say there's a lot of improvement. I think especially this year has been a tough start, and I'm glad to have gotten the goal and I hope that I can continue going forward."
On the game overall:
Buck: "I thought we had a good game. I mean we could have probably had about 12 goals if I'm being honest. I'm sure Esmir [Bajraktarevic] could've had like five. Fuji [Hikaru Fujiwara] could have had one. I'm sure a lot of goals could have been scored and should have been scored, so that's a talking point, and something we could work on for next week, but overall, I think it's a good performance from the guys and hopefully we can carry it on."
Academy Midfielder Jack Panayotou
On making his first appearance with the U-19 U.S. Men's Youth National Team this week:
Panayotou: "It was one of the best experiences I've ever had so far. I've been working for that for a while so when I got called up it was definitely an amazing achievement for me, and I got to play with a lot of really, really good players, and I felt like I did really well, and I was up with them so that was really good for me to see."
On making a quick transition from the national team back to Revolution II:
Panayotou: "It's been a little hard. I'm a little tired, but I just want to do whatever I can to help the team and I just want to play so I'm happy to get out here when they need me."
On the moment he was told he was called up to the U-19 U.S. Men's Youth National Team:
Panayotou: "It was really funny. Curt [Onalfo] calls me up and I just saw it on my phone, and it was Memorial Day weekend and I take the call. He's like, 'you're getting called to the National Team.' I'm like 'Oh my god,' and I run inside, and I found all my friends, and they're like, 'Oh my God,' and we all got really happy, so it was definitely a really cool moment for me."
On his performance tonight:
Panayotou: "Yeah, I think the team played well. We've been on a good run of games. Today It was no different. I thought I did well, to come in and make a couple good plays, but you know, help the team press and bring some energy."
