The York Revolution held on for a thrilling 6-5 win on Sunday afternoon, taking three out of four in their weekend series against the Somerset Patriots. The game was played in front of 3,878 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

York opened a quick 2-0 lead in the second with three straight hits. Jason Aspito got it going with a bloop hit, and Matt Esquivel doubled him home with the game's first run. Josh Johnson then ripped an RBI single up the middle, plating Esquivel.

The Revs then doubled their lead to 4-0 the next inning, as P.J. Rose blooped a two-out hit, bringing Tom Collaro to the plate. Collaro crushed the next pitch high over the Arch Nemesis in left for his team-best seventh homerun of the season.

York starter Corey Thurman took a shutout into the fifth, thanks in part to some big defensive plays behind him. The biggest came in the fourth when Somerset loaded the bases with no outs, and Joe Burke hit a line drive to right. Jason Aspito made the catch, and fired a rocket to home plate, nailing Jeff Nettles attempting to score.

Josh Pressley broke up the shutout with a two-out homer to right in the fifth, and after a walk, Nettles homered to left, slicing the Revs lead to 4-3.

York struck back with an important tally in the bottom of the fifth on Collaro's two-out RBI single to right, and one more in the sixth as Ryan Goleski smacked an RBI single to center, building the lead back up to 6-3.

The Patriots charged back again in the seventh. Matt Hagen's double plated a run, and landed runners at second and third in a two-run game with still no outs. Chris Britton entered in relief, however, and induced a fly ball to center. The sac fly scored a run to make it 6-5, but Goleski uncorked a cannon shot to third base, cutting down Hagen attempting to advance. Britton got through the seventh, worked a scoreless eighth, and handed it over to Bob Zimmermann who earned his third save in as many chances, stranding two runners in the ninth.

Notes: The Revs tied a club record with three outfield assists in the game, one from Aspito, Esquivel, and Goleski. Corey Thurman (3-3) matches Dave Gassner for the team lead in wins, just two days after Gassner won his third. York has now won four out of five overall for the first time this season. The Revs head to Long Island for the first of three on Monday night at 6:35 p.m., as RHP Tim Harikkala squares off against Ducks righty Jake Dittler. The game can be heard live on NEWSRADIO 910 WSBA or online at YorkRevolution.com beginning at 6 p.m.
