New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution - which has spent the past two weeks participating in SuperLiga 2009 and the U.S. Open Cup - will return to MLS regular-season action for the first time since mid-June when the club travels across the country to visit the LA Galaxy on Saturday, July 4, at The Home Depot Center. The game will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel beginning at 11 p.m. ET, while the WEEI Radio Network will also carry the action.
The Revolution (4-4-4, 16 pts.) hasn't played a league match since June 13, when the club dropped a 3-1 decision to the Kansas City Wizards. Since then, the Revs have advanced to the semifinal round of SuperLiga 2009 as the top seed in the competition, while they've also been eliminated from the U.S. Open Cup with a third-round loss to the Harrisburg City Islanders of USL-2. Meanwhile, the Galaxy (3-3-9, 18 pts.) snapped a brief two-game losing skid with an impressive victory over the Western Conference leading Houston Dynamo last Sunday night.
This will be the sixth time since Major League Soccer's inaugural season in 1996 that the Revs and Galaxy have squared off on July 4, with all six meetings taking place on the West Coast. With a 2-1 victory in last year's meeting, the Revolution took the lead in the July 4 series between the two clubs, 2-1-2.
