FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution Academy returned to the pitch this past weekend when all four teams hosted matches at Gillette Stadium. The Under-18s and Under-16s played Empire United on Saturday, March 25, while the Under-14s and Under-13s hosted Oakwood Soccer Club on Sunday, March 26.
All four Academy teams will be back on the field this weekend with matches against Beachside SC in Connecticut. The U-18s and U-16s will square off at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn. on Saturday, April 1, while the U-14s and U-13s will play at Danbury High School in Danbury, Conn. on Sunday, April 2.
The New England Revolution Academy in conjunction with U12 Alliance partner clubs will be holding a series of player identification clinics for boys in 2006 & 2007 birth years for the upcoming 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
U-18 goalkeeper Eddie Walsh '99 (Westwood, Mass.) made two saves en route to a shutout victory, 4-0, over Empire United.
Midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) registered a goal and an assist in the U-18s' victory. Vang has scored each of the las two weekends and now has seven assists on the season.
Defender Daniel Jones '99 (West Hartford, Conn.) registered his first goal of the 2016-17 season.
Marcelo Lage '00 (Wakefield, Mass.) scored for a second consecutive match to equalize in the 76th minute, and earn a draw for the U-16s in their match against Empire United, 1-1.
Defender Degefe McCracken '03 (Wellesley, Mass.) made his first appearance on the scoresheet for the 2016-17 season by recording a pair of assists in the U-13s' 3-0 victory over Oakwood Soccer Club.
U-13 goalkeepers Eliot Jones '03 (New Britain, Conn.) and Nickolas Cardona '03 (Roxbury, Mass.) each played a half, registering a pair of saves and combining for a shutout over Oakwood Soccer Club, 3-0.
