Revolution Academy: 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoff Preview

FRISCO, Texas - The New England Revolution Academy U-15 and U-19 teams both qualified for the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs this season. The U-15s qualified in May through the MLS NEXT Flex tournament, going 2-0-1 in group play, and are set to face Inter Miami CF Academy on Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The U-19s qualified through their final 2-1 win of the regular season and will face off against IMG Academy on Sunday, June 26 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Taking place at Toyota Soccer Center, the second annual MLS NEXT Cup playoffs conclude the MLS NEXT season through a single-elimination competition. After making it to the semifinals in the 2021 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs, the U-15s carry a 9-7-1 record from the spring season into the postseason, including two shutouts. Peyton Miller (2007 - Unionville, Conn.), a standout in the Revolution Academy program since 2021, leads the U-15s with 25 goals in 28 games played this year. The forward recently appeared with the U-15 U.S. Men's Youth National Team for a training camp in February. Raphael Alves (2007 - Framingham, Mass.) and Tito Nichols (2007 - Milton, Mass.) have also been pivotal for the U-15s with 15 and 10 goals, respectively. Midfielder Sage Kinner (2007 - Burlington, V.T.) leads the U-15s with over 2,100 minutes played across 27 games played this season.

The U-19s are bringing their 5-1-5 spring record down to Texas for the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. Triton Beauvois (2003 - Malden, Mass.) sits atop the U-19 scoring sheet with 10 goals in 20 games played this season. The forward became the 22nd Academy player to make his professional debut with New England Revolution II back in April. Alongside Beauvois, midfielder Jack Panayotou (2004 - Cambridge, Mass.) is set to appear with the U-19s in Texas. The Cambridge, Mass. native has made eight appearances with New England's second team this season and scored his first two professional goals with the squad in April. Panayotou owns four goals and two assists across nine games played with the U-19s this season. After scoring the game winner that sent the team to the playoffs in his first appearance with the U-19s, forward Malcolm Fry (2005 - Groton, Mass.) will also be traveling down to Texas with the team. The Groton, Mass. native scored six goals in his 12 games played with the U-17s this season.
