Republic FC's Luther Archimede, Emil Cuello Named to USL Championship Week 21 Team of the Week

Sacramento, Calif. - On Tuesday, the USL Championship announced Republic FC midfielder Emil Cuello was named to Week 21 Team of the Week, and forward Luther Archimede was named to Week 21 Team of the Week Bench for their performances in the club's 4-2 win over Charleston Battery on July 30.

Both players finished the match with one goal and one assist. Cuello netted the first of Sacramento's four scores on the night in the 16th minute when he headed through a service from Nick Ross on a corner kick. He later assisted Archimede's 30th-minute score by sending a ball over the top for the Guadeloupe native to punch through with a high-paced shot from the right. Just before the half, Archimede assisted Zeiko Lewis' go-ahead score when he sent a ball along from the left for the Bermudan to punch in, his third of the season.

Archimede and Cuello each finished the contest with a team-high three shots, and Cuello created two additional scoring chances. His 16th-minute goal was his first of the 2022 season and first since October 2021. Archimede's score was his first in open play this season - his previous two goals in 2022 each came from the penalty spot on April 2 against Monterey Bay FC, and June 18 against LA Galaxy II.

The selection is Cuello's second all-time to the league's weekly top squad, and first to the Best XI. He previously earned a bench selection with San Antonio FC in Week 3 of the 2021 season. This is Archimede's first-ever Team of the Week selection. They are the 11th and 12th Republic FC players this season to earn the weekly league honor.

Republic FC takes the pitch again tomorrow when they face off with New Mexico United in Albuquerque for the second match against the Southwest club this season. Kickoff from Isotopes Park is set for 6:00 p.m. PT and the match will be broadcast live on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 App, and streaming on ESPN+. Sacramento will return home on August 6 to face Rio Grande Valley FC on Honor Our Educators Night at Heart Health Park; tickets to the match are still available at SacRepublicFC.com/single-match-tickets.
