Sacramento Republic FC News Release
With the calendar turning to December, Republic FC has begun to help spread holiday cheer across the region. The club's third annual Winter Wishlist Holiday Drive is already underway - collecting toys and coats for families in the Robla Unified School District.
Last Friday, the club's front office and forward Keko Gontan joined an afternoon of holiday festivities at Elk Grove Senior Center alongside Indomitable Partner Delta Dental. The late-week treat kicked off the holiday season with an afternoon of activities for local seniors - decorating cookies, making custom tree ornaments, gift wrapping and more. Making for a fun afternoon of social, creative and festive seasonal celebration, over 40 Delta Dental and Republic FC volunteers joined forces to help make the day.
To boot, the afternoon saw some passionate fans get the chance to meet one of their favorite players. The Spaniard jumped at the opportunity to meet some supporters who make every match face to face, and even sign a few autographs. One even rushed to have a photo printed so he could sign it before the day ended.
It wasn't the first collaboration between the club and Delta Dental this year. With the club's support, they previously lead donation drives for North Sacramento families in July, collecting and distributing hygiene kits for families.
Serving the region's seniors is a major focus of Delta, who frequently aims to give back to a group sometimes forgotten about during the busy holiday season. The organization's strive to support the Sacramento community frequently includes both community and health initiatives - on their own over the Thanksgiving holiday, their staff joined the Sacramento Food Bank's annual Run to Feed the Hungry - and throughout the year, they've given back to a multitude of causes in communities nationwide.
