Reno Bighorns Take Down Texas Legends

Reno, NV., January 29, 2013 - The Reno Bighorns took down the Texas Legends Wednesday night 124-115.

Texas took the early lead against the Bighorns to start the game, with Melvin Ely shooting 4-5 from the field and PJ Hairston draining two 3-pointers. However, at the end of the quarter, the Bighorns bounced back and led by one (28-27) going into the second quarter. Brandon Heath shot 4-4 from the field in the first and KC Rivers added 7 points for Reno.

The Bighorns continued shooting well into the second quarter, including Tajaun Porter who shot 4-4 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc. Going into half time, Reno led 67-54. First half top scorers were: Rivers with 13 points. Bryan Davis and Porter each added 11 points for Reno.

In the third quarter, the Legends climbed their way back into the game and took the lead at 5:50 (74-73). Reno came back with two Ra'Shad James free throws at 25 seconds left to tie up the game. Mo Charlo came in at 0.2 seconds and sank a long distance 3-pointer to give Reno the lead 94-91 going into the fourth.

The final quarter was led by the Bighorns the entire 12 minutes. Despite the Legends shooting 100% from the line, they couldn't keep their third quarter lead. Reno out-rebounded Texas 40-32 and also led in points in the paint 60-50.

The Bighorns were led by Tajaun Porter with 23 points. KC Rivers contributed 15 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Five other Reno players scored in double figures: Bryan Davis (18), Trent Lockett (16), Brandon Heath (15), Ra'Shad James (11) and Dequan Jones (11).

For Texas, PJ Hairston had a game-high 45 points. Melvin Ely had 22 points, 7 rebounds. Mickey McConnell added another 11 points and 11 assists.
