Renegades stay hot, win again

FISHKILL, NY (June 26, 2004) -The Hudson Valley Renegades continued to roll, defeating the Jamestown Jammers, 10-5 at Dutchess Stadium in front of a crowd of 4,143.

The Renegades are now currently on a four game winning streak, the longest of the season and long current streak in the New York Penn League.

The Renegades jumped out on the board early, scoring six runs in the first inning, sending ten batters to the plate. Second baseman, Chad Cooper, drove in the first run of the game with a triple. Left fielder, Francisco Leandro followed Cooper with a RBI single, and then third baseman Pat Cottrell drove in the third run of the inning with a double. Shortstop Salvador Paredes and center fielder Fernando Perez, also added RBI singles in the inning.

In the second, the Renegades kept the bats going, scoring three more runs. Pat Cottrell doubled, driving in two more runs and Paredes had another RBI single.

Jonathan Barratt, (ND, 0-0) started the game for the Renegades, pitching 3 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and four runs, but only one earned. Aaron Walker (W, 1- 0), got his first win of the season, in his first appearance going 2 2/3 innings allowing only one hit, striking out three. Jose Delacruz, finished the game receiving a three inning save, pitching three innings, allowing one run and three hits while striking out four.

Jeff Gogal (L, 0-2), was credited with the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning allowing five hits and six runs, but only two earned runs.

Left Fielder Kevin Swell was 3-for-4 on the night with one run scored and one RBI for Jamestown.

The Renegades and Jammers will square off again tomorrow night. On the mound for the Renegades will be Matt Cobb (0- 1, 7.20) and Jon Nickerson (0- 0, 6.75) for the Jammers. Game time is scheduled for 5:11.
