
Cards drop series opener to Doubledays

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the Cardinals lost the first game of a 3-game set to the Auburn Doubledays (Toronto Blue Jays) 7-2. Auburns Matt Dalton improved his record to 2-0, as Michael Parisi picked up a loss in his first decision of the season.
Cody Palmer led the Cardinals with a solo home run to left field in the 3rd inning. It was Codys first home run in a Cardinals uniform. Casey Grimm reached base safely for the 7th straight game, when he drew a walk in the 2nd inning. Jarrett Hoffpauir also contributed with a pair of hits, a double in the 4th and a single in the 6th. Jaymie Torres extended his scoreless inning streak to 5.2 innings, with 2.2 innings of scoreless work tonight.
The Cardinals will host the Doubledays again on Sunday, with the first pitch at 5:00pm. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free seat cushion courtesy of TRI-CO Federal Credit Union and The Daily Record. After the game, kids will be given the chance to Race Around the Bases.These same two teams will close out their 3-game series on Monday evening at 7:15pm. On Monday night, KFC and the New Jersey Herald will be sponsoring our Kids Eat Freepromotion. There will also be post-game batting practice, where fans will have the opportunity to hit a home run to win $100 and a new gas grill from Eastern Propane.
