Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
FISHKILL, NY (July 29, 2007) - The Lowell Spinners left Dutchess Stadium Sunday afternoon with an 11-5 victory, defeating the Hudson Valley Renegades on getaway day.
Renegades starter Diego Echeverria shut out Lowell for 3.2 innings before allowing the Spinners to score a pair of runs. With a fourth-inning, RBI single, first baseman Henry Wrigley cut Hudson Valley's deficit in half.
In the top of the 5th, Lowell scored four runs with one swing of the bat, as Spinners shortstop Yamaico Navarro launched a grand slam off Echeverria. The see-saw battle continued into the bottom of the inning, as Hudson Valley recorded a four spot of their own, capped by a two-run homerun from outfielder Maiko Loyola.
In the 7th inning Lowell took control, scoring a pair of runs off 'Gades reliever Brian Flores. With three ninth-inning runs off Hudson Valley's bullpen, the Spinners put the game out of reach.
Contributing in the loss was Henry Wrigley. The first baseman recorded three hits, while driving in a pair.
Spinners reliever Ryan Lawson pitched 2.1 innings to earn his third win of the season. Diego Echeverria, who was pulled in the 5th inning, drops to 1-6.
The Renegades will now leave Dutchess Stadium for six games. Hudson Valley will return on August 5, after taking on the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Tri-City Valley Cats.
