NYPL Vermont Lake Monsters

Lake Monsters Homestand July 30th - August 1st

July 29, 2007 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Vermont Lake Monsters News Release

Welcome to another edition of the Up From the Depths Newsletter asit has been an interesting week in Monsters baseball. The Lake Monsters are 22-16, one game behind the Lowell Spinners. Along with Oneonta .this looks like a very close three-way race for Stedler Division supremacy. The Lake Monsters just went 4-2 on a six-game roadtrip with strong pitching and timely hitting.

Look at guys such as Aaron Suess, Bill Rheinhart, and Garrett Bass. Clearly when a trio of hitters combines for three home runs and 66 RBIs, it usually means big things for the future of the franchise. Seuss has hit safely in 15 straight games, going 23-for-57 (.476), and is three games shy of the team record 18-game hitting streaks of Geoff Blum (1994) and Jason Tuttle (2003).

Adrian Alaniz may not get the notoriety that Glenn Gibson and Colten Willems are receiving, but when you look at the cold hard statistics he is getting the job done. His sterling 5-0 record and 0.57 Earned Run Average makes him a solid sleeper for the rest of the season. The transition to the rotation has been almost effortless and hopefully good things keep on coming for him. Glenn Gibson has posted a 0.72 ERA in seven starts, so he isn't that bad of a starting option either. Clearly a Vermont pitcher will at the very least be in the running to start the upcoming All Star Game.

The next three games at the ballpark should be very exciting for the Vermont fans as the team has a big three-game homestand against the Hudson Valley Renegades, the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

On Monday night, Vermont will welcome its 1.5-millionth fan all-time to historic Centennial Field in the team's 14-year history.
