Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - The Hudson Valley Renegades fell late 4-2 to the Aberdeen IronBirds on Sunday afternoon at Heritage Financial Park.

Aberdeen jumped in front early with a pair of runs against Baron Stuart. Elio Prado singled and stole second base to begin the top of the first. Ryan Higgins singled him home to hand the IronBirds a 1-0 lead.

The IronBirds extended their advantage in the third on a sacrifice fly from Carter Young. Randy Florentino walked, stole second base, and advanced to third on a wild pitch from Stuart to begin the frame. Young drove him in a few batters later to pad Aberdeen's lead to 2-0.

In the bottom half of the third, Kyle Battle worked a leadoff walk against Kyle Virbitsky to bring up Juan Crisp. In his first game started since June 9, Crisp clubbed a two-run home run to right field to tie the game at two. It was the first home run hit by Crisp since Aug. 27, 2019 while playing for the GCL Yankees West.

In his second start this week against Aberdeen, Stuart struck out five, walked one, and allowed just two runs in five innings. Clay Aguilar followed and tossed two scoreless innings before handing the baseball off to Luis Velasquez.

Velasquez (3-2) retired the first five batters in his outing before Creed Willems doubled down the right-field line with two outs in the ninth. The next batter, Jacob Teter, hit a go-ahead two-run home run to right-center field to give Aberdeen a 4-2 advantage. The home run from Teter snapped a 20.2-inning scoreless streak that dated back to July 21.

After Yaqui Rivera (1-1) recorded two scoreless frames, Antonio Velez tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Ben Cowles extended his franchise record on-base streak to 38 games in the loss when he was hit by a pitch leading off the bottom of the first inning.

After an off day on Monday, the Renegades travel to Wilmington, Del. to begin a six-game series against the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Tuesday. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:15 on the Renegades Baseball Network.

Renegades Record:

66-54, 27-27
